The Dubai Police and Dubai Civil Aviation Authority have announced they are hosting the first-ever UAS FORUM from 16 – 17 October 2017 to highlight how Dubai government authorities and industries are exploring the application of drones for commercial and civilian purposes. This event has been developed to create awareness on the regulations for safe and legal usage of drones and showcase how various government entities and enterprises across the region are using drone applications for security and surveillance, inspection and monitoring, surveying and mapping, aerial photography and transporting passengers and connect with the industry’s most important buyers, sellers and consumers of drones and services.
Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently announced that it will begin testing a two-seater autonomous flying taxi that within five years and is working with Dubai’s Civil Aviation Authority to develop a legal framework for pilotless aircraft that carry passengers.
The plan is for electrically-powered Volocopter air taxis to fly passengers autonomously through the emirate.
