Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) has released an Expression of Interest for organisations to participate in a Remotely Piloted Aerial System (RPAS) beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) trial project.
The project will study the possible utilisation of RPAS in BVLOS situations, to support the management of fire, rescue and other emergency incidents. It includes a large-scale, one-off operational trial where it is planned that RPAS will be deployed BVLOS to simulated emergency incidents.
Results from the trial will be used to guide the development and implementation of practices and procedures to underpin and facilitate safe and effective use of BVLOS operations to support the management of actual fire, rescue and emergency events; and inform future decisions regarding the selection and utilisation of RPAS capabilities to support the management of actual fire, rescue and emergency events in the future.
