Spanish air navigation service provider ENAIRE will start the first flight campaign of its national UTM/U-space system in February 2022, with a separate common information service provider (CISP) system and U-Space service provider (USSP). This will be followed by another flight trial with one CISP and two USSPs, to test data transfer between the two, according to ENAIRE’s Daniel Garcia-Monteavaro speaking at the World ATM Congress in Madrid.
Indra is the key industry partner in the programme.
Data from these flight trials will be passed to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and other UAS regulatory and standards body.
ENAIRE has recorded a 250% increase in UAS operations in 2021 over 2020 (85% in controlled airspace) – while requests through the digital tool ENAIRE PLANEA are up 87%.
