Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has signed an agreement with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to promote information exchange and cooperation in areas relating to Advanced Aerial Mobility (AAM). Dubbed the ‘Statement of Cooperation on Flying Vehicles’, the agreement establishes a framework for information exchange and cooperation on the harmonisation of procedures and technology for aircraft, pilot licenses, and operations of flying vehicles, and the overall AAM markets which is a matter of interest to both countries. The agreement covers the following domains:
- Exchange of information on policies, programs, projects, research results, and literature;
- Sharing of know-how, data and best practices for the development of flying cars; and
- Holding regular bi-annual meetings and co-hosting symposiums, workshops, or conferences, etc between the two countries.
