Spanish air navigation service provider Enaire has launched a total of 25 activities as part of a package worth more than EUR107 million supported by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. The measures are designed to modernise air traffic control and surveillance systems, digital transformation and information systems, new technologies to manage drones (U-Space), and to evolve communication systems. Enaire is part of the Strategic Plan for the Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) and the Aerospace Sector, as part of the Spanish government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR). The investment package is part of Spain’s “Actions for the Development of the Single European Sky” Project.
Investment within the framework of U-Space development include actions that will make it possible to manage the simultaneous operation of a large number of drones (autonomous electric vehicles that contribute to decarbonisation and reduce emissions of atmospheric pollutants), as well as the operation of air taxis (Urban Air Mobility) as a new concept in personal transport, says the Enaire press release.
Investment is distributed in the regions of Andalusia, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Galicia, Madrid, the Basque Country and the Valencian Community.
