The SESAR Joint Undertaking U-ELCOME Digital Sky Demonstration project has demonstrated U-space services at Gorizia Airport in Italy.
On April 11, a Pipistrel Nuuva V300 hybrid-electric, long-range VTOL cargo drone was successfully flown, demonstrating digital flight plan submission, activation and deactivation, and network e-identification.
“These capabilities are crucial for the safe and scalable integration of drones into European skies,” the U-ELCOME project said in a LinkedIn post on April 21, noting that the demonstration was made possible through the collaboration between Pipistrel Aircraft, Honeywell GCS, Italian air navigation services provider ENAV, and D-Flight.
