Tokyo project demonstrates simultaneous drone flights in different airspaces

Sagawa Express, Eames Robotics, Japan Weather Association (JWA) and Sundrug – selected for the “Drone Logistics Service Social Implementation Promotion Project” implemented by the Tokyo metropolitan government – have been working together to advance a drone delivery project.

The final public demonstration of this project took place in Ome City, Tokyo and the surrounding mountainous terrain. This was the first time that the project had set up routes in which one flight instructor flies two drones simultaneously on two routes in different airspaces.

JWA reported on April 7 that the demonstration was a success. The flights crossed roads and railways and tested systems to check for the presence of pedestrians. The project partners said they will “continue to deepen our collaboration with government agencies, local governments, and related companies, and work to build new delivery networks that are rooted in the local community”.
