Social media reports say US UTM company Skyward, part of the Verizon group, will cease operations in June 2022. According to the reports, customers have received emails from the company alerting them of the news.
Skyward is one of eight companies providing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA’s) Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) services and in November 2021 reported it had integrated the next generation of LAANC within its platform (https://www.unmannedairspace.info/latest-news-and-information/skyward-incorporates-low-altitude-authorisation-capability-supports-automated-flight-approvals/).
If the reports are true the company is the second major US UTM pioneer – following Drone-Up’s acquisition of AirMap – to bow out of the market.
