Europe’s SESAR AURA modernisation project defined requirements for U-space information exchange with airspace management, developed a new concept of operations and validated the data exchanges through System Wide Information Management (SWIM) to create a collaborative environment, according to the recently published SESAR U-space brochure. AURA demonstrated a set of services and identified the information exchange needed to permit an guarantee ATM and U-space systems interoperability.
The project results serve as input to regulators such as EASA, and to standardisation bodies working actively in U-space. A collaborative ATM U-space environment increases airspace interoperability and improves the security of operations, while new standards enable development and realisation of the economic potential of the drone market, according to project partners.
