A SESAR Joint Undertaking (JU) spotlight event on 18 November 2021, 10.30-17.00 CET, will showcase U-space services for medical air mobility (SAFIR-Med). The Helicus Aero Initiative and partners from the SAFIR-Med project invite delegates to an event hosted by skeyes to share the services and use cases being researched, developed and demonstrated within the SESAR 2020 programme, aiming to make drone services for medical air mobility a reality.
The event will take place in a hybrid capacity with speakers and representatives from the SAFIR-MED project/advisory board present in person at the skeyes location in Brussels and the rest of the audience joining online.
Drone technology is rapidly evolving. It is now key to build the infrastructure and resources necessary to ensure safe handling of medical operations, especially product delivery. With the sudden impulse from COVID-19 and upcoming developments in EU drone legislation, the landscape is changing in favour of medical drones. As this market continues to grow, the pressure is on to ensure that drones are safely and securely integrated into European airspace (U-space). This Spotlight event aims to showcase some of the U-space services and use cases being researched, developed and demonstrated within the SESAR 2020 programme, aiming to make European drone services for medical air mobility a reality.
The SAFIR-Med project’s vision is to achieve safe, sustainable, socially accepted and socially beneficial urban air mobility. SAFIR-Med represents all value chain actors and stakeholder as either project partner (ATC, USPs, Operators, UAS Manufacturers, cities) or formal associate partner (major customers, technology and service providers) at a representative international level. Five unmanned UAV platforms (passenger eVTOL, hydrogen fuel cell VTOL, AED medical drone, X8 medical transport) will be combined with manned aviation in real life exercises validating technology in real urban environment.
