Omani UTM company Serb launches its drone traffic management system in Oman

Serb has launched its uncrewed traffic management (UTM) system in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Serb UTM system offers a holistic platform for drone operators and enthusiasts, encompassing route planning, flight assessments, and risk evaluations, says the company in a press release. Designed to increase safety and operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance, the system is the first of its kind in Oman.

According to Anwaar Al Hinai, Co-founder and CEO of Serb: “The software is designed to assist drone operators in planning flights within Oman’s airspace. Launched in 2020, Serb, overseen by the Civil Aviation Authority, provides essential information for conducting drone missions within the country.”

Oman’s regulations designate red, green and yellow airspace areas denoting different levels of access for drone operators.

All drone flight information planned using Serb UTM will be shared with authorities before take-off. After submitting the flight plan, details including drone license number, drone operator’s contact information, flight plan specifics, purpose of flight, and flight duration and time will be shared with the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman. This proactive sharing of information allows the authority to reject a flight if any inconsistencies or potential disruptions with aircraft/helicopter operations are identified.
