Pierce Aerospace Awarded USD10M Contract for Remote ID Technology

Pierce Aerospace has been awarded a USD 10 million Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity subcontract from Amentum to support evolving Remote ID requirements from the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate.

This subcontract was awarded as a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Phase III award under Amentum’s Department of Defense Information Analysis Center’s multiple-award contract vehicle. It provides opportunities to test and evaluate Pierce Aerospace’s Remote ID detection, tracking, and identification systems and software to various geographies with multiple departments and agencies participating.

Pierce Aerospace’s technology, including the YR1 Remote ID sensor, are designed to provide commercial and government end users with an affordable means to monitor airspace for Remote ID broadcast messages, filling gaps in airspace awareness. The systems can be layered with other capabilities to provide a holistic approach to airspace safety and security.

The US Federal Aviation Administration codified Remote ID as a rule on January 15, 2021, and began enforcement of Remote ID on March 16, 2024. Pierce Aerospace began its Remote ID efforts in 2017 and built many of the capabilities it now deploys to end users via the Small Business Administration’s SBIR programme that it started with the US Air Force via AFWERX.
