Partners launch BVLOS test flights with Lower Saxony drone test centre in Germany

Germany’s Lower Saxony State Aviation Authority has approved beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights for a series of uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) operations in northwestern Germany.

Digital service provider b.r.m. IT & Aerospace and Flugschule Borkum are working with the new drone test centre Hatten-UAS and the Oldenburg-Hatten airfield (EDWH) to begin test operations over largely uninhabited areas in the province.

Currently, the approval of the State Aviation Authority of Lower Saxony refers to the test operation with the OptoPrecision VT-4 Rays. The approved area for BVLOS drone operation extends over largely uninhabited areas of Hatten-UAS at the VLP Oldenburg-Hatten over the Jade Bay to the North Sea. North of the East Frisian Islands, it extends to the Dutch border. The height limit is 120 m.
