Nigeria approves first drone training institute

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has certified Arco Aviation Academy as an Approved Training Organization (ATO) for Remote Pilot Aircraft System (RPAS) training.

Presenting the certificate at a brief ceremony held at the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, commended the academy for meeting all regulatory requirements. The Director General urged the academy to prepare for the task of compliance with certification standards and pledged full support.

The ATO certification was issued after a satisfactory completion of a five-phase approval process, and followed a demonstration of compliance with the relevant regulations.

The academy will offer a basic remote pilot course, as well as courses for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations.
