NACAS approved for BVLOS flights for Australian healthcare programme

The North Australia Centre for Autonomous Systems (NACAS) has received approval from the national Civil Aviation Safety Authority approval to operate the RigiTech Eiger beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) in Australia.

The Eiger will be integrated into NACAS’ Indigenous healthcare programme, enabling it to deliver essential medical supplies to some of the most isolated communities in the Northern Territories.

NACAS has partnered with the Northern Territory Department of Health, and the iMOVE Cooperative Research Centre to solve the logistical and regulatory barriers limiting drone integration into the Northern Territory healthcare supply chain. The goal is to supplement existing medical transport infrastructure across northern Australia with drone delivery.
