The Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS) has issued a draft of the Airworthiness working group’s Annex C to certification specifications for uncrewed aerial systems (CS-UAS) – Draft 3.0.
This Annex C to CS-UAS relates primarily to systems built out of subordinated hardware and software items, using artificial intelligence, producing outputs serving as input for a superordinate system which perform safety critical functions based on these outputs.
“In this document the term High Complex Systems (HCS) is used for these systems,” JARUS states. “The document received several bigger treatments to make it more in-line with the current developments in AI”.
