Indian startup launches autonomous drone logistics service

Indian startup BonV Aero has launched a fully autonomous drone logistics service called Air Orca, according to various national media reports. The drones are designed, developed and manufactured in India.

BonV Aero says the technology can “dynamically adjust paths in real-time amid weather, traffic, and terrain considerations”. Users input waypoints, and the system orchestrates logistics, which the company says negates the need for a certified pilot.

The Economic Times reports that the service is supported by venture capitalist Tim Draper who said he believes Air Orca can be an effective tool for disaster response in India and globally.

A further report in The Samikhsya says that the Air Orca drone is designed to serve as a first responder in post-disaster scenarios, and that it is also suitable for military logistics operations in challenging terrains, including high altitude. The article states that BonV Aero set a world record by lifting a 30 kg payload at 19,024 feet.
