HHLA Sky, in partnership with drone airline Morpheus Logistik and medical lab group Eurofins GeLaMed, are launching a new medical lab logistics operation in May. Using HHLA Sky’s technology, Morpheus Logistik will operate regular drone flights carrying medical samples between multiple hospitals and central labs.
The drones, automatically controlled and monitored via HHLA Sky’s Integrated Control Center (ICC), will shuttle critical lab samples between hospitals and the Eurofins GeLaMed lab in Iserlohn, Germany. Plans are already in motion to expand drone routes to connect locations like Iserlohn and Gelsenkirchen.
“HHLA Sky’s X25 drones feature redundant systems and ample power for safe and reliable flight,” the company said at a press launch on April 24. “Morpheus Logistik’s German Federal Aviation Authority-approved SAIL III operating concept, combined with the ICC’s real-time control and monitoring, ensures maximum safety during automated flights.”
The ICC’s technology enables a single pilot to monitor multiple flight routes simultaneously. In addition, HHLA Sky’s platform meets cybersecurity standards in accordance with IEC 62443, as certified by German technical agency TÜV NORD.
