French medical logistics project to deliver medical samples via U-space corridors

Innov’ATM has announced the launch of the Code4Goods medical logistics project following approval by the BPI France public investment bank.

Over EUR 5 million has been invested to develop a solution where drones will transport biological samples over distances of several tens of kilometres using U-space corridors. Code4Goods will enable a fully automated end-to-end solution. The drones will transport goods via the U-space corridors and then autonomous ground robots will take over on the ground to unload the drones to the final distribution points. The project’s goal is to free up time for healthcare personnel and reduce the carbon footprint.

Code4Goods will be carried out by a consortium led by Innov’ATM, in collaboration with Delair, a French drone manufacturer, and ONERA, the French aerospace research institute.

Innov’ATM says that with the implementation of dedicated aerial corridors for drone traffic, “drones will be able to operate regular and secure rotations, transporting samples entrusted by hospitals under optimal conditions”.

The project aligns with the France2030 national programme. With a total budget of EUR 54 billion, France2030 aims to boost industrial competitiveness, invest heavily in innovative technologies, and support ecological transition.
