Multiple press sources report France’s Council of State, the supreme administrative judge in France, on July 24 ruled in favour of Volocopter flights taxis during the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games (July 26 – September 8).
According to a report in the Boursorama news site: “The decision of the Council of State is an emergency measure, therefore provisional, pending a hearing on the merits which should take place in the autumn.”
The City of Paris, the mayor of the thirteenth arrondissement, Jérôme Coumet and several environmental protest organizations challenged the French government’s decision to start Volocopter air taxi operations from a vertiport floating on the river Seine by the Gare d’Austerlitz train station (see https://www.urbanairmobilitynews.com/public-consultation/paris-city-local-authority-renews-legal-battle-against-floating-austerlitz-vertiport/).
According to a report in Le Monde:
“They’re seeking to obtain the urgent cancellation of the authorization granted on July 4 by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, and its minister delegate for transport Patrice Vergriete. Le Monde has learned that two applications for interim injunction were lodged on July 15 and 17.”
Volocopter eVTOL flights are due to start in Paris in the next few days, in time for the summer Olympic Games.
