The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is looking to hire a project manager for its Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Office (AUS) special programme. The department focuses on unique programmes or major projects requiring longer-term efforts and resources above and beyond those ordinarily available.
According to the vacancy listing on the official USAJOBS web portal, the project manager is responsible for performing multiple, varying, and complex activities necessary to meet the deliverables associated with a special programme or project in the AUS. Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organisational lines.
The successful candidate will apply their experience and comprehensive knowledge of project management strategies, principles, and concepts to help organise teams and complete projects according to their success criteria while engaging stakeholders. They must also ensure open and effective communication, cooperation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The project manager plans, coordinates, monitors, and reports on the progress of multiple ongoing projects as well as identifies, plans, and organises available resources to accomplish projects and activities. They will work with the program manager in formulating, defending, and executing project budgets and schedules.
The project manager will lead small project teams in achieving organisational objectives and goals, and identifies project deliverables and ensures that they adhere to the relevant standards. They will also identify and evaluate project risks/issues and recommend ways to either avoid or minimise impact.
The post is open to US citizens with at least one year of specialised experience. This may include experience in interpreting, using and writing UAS and uncrewed traffic management (UTM) regulations for the development and implementation of rules to enable more complex drone operations.
