DLR to demonstrate medical drone flights for SAFIR-Ready project this autumn

As part of the SAFIR-Ready (Safe and Flexible Integration of Initial U-space Services in a real Environment) project, the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) Institute for Flight Guidance is organising validation activities in Braunschweig this autumn, including table-top exercises and a planned demonstration flight between sites of the Braunschweig Municipal Hospital.

The time-critical transport of medical equipment or goods between hospital sites will be tested along with transporting material from Braunschweig airport to hospitals in the surrounding area. During the table-top exercises, project partners DLR, ANRA Technologies, and Droniq GmbH will address relevant scenarios, such as crossing boundaries from controlled to uncontrolled airspace and priority UAS missions. Helicus will be supporting the medical flight demonstrations.

The SAFIR-Ready project is part of the SESAR Joint Undertaking and is funded by the European Commission.
