CASSINI announces Space for Healthcare hackathon

The European Commission’s CASSINI initiative has announced CASSINI Hackathon 2025: Space for Healthcare. Participants will use space data, utilising Copernicus Earth observation or Galileo navigation to tackle real-world health challenges.

There are three challenges to choose from:

Monitor Disease Outbreaks and Health Risks – where participants can use Earth observation data and aerial technology to track health threats, air quality or emergency zones.

Smart Emergency Healthcare Delivery – where drone-based delivery systems can be ‘built’ for remote areas, guided by satellite precision.

Mental Health and Wellbeing – which will explore how technology could expand mental health access and awareness in underserved regions.

As well as having access to real EU satellite data, participants will be able to work with mentors in drones, space tech, healthcare and AI, network and compete with teams from 10 European countries, and win a cash prize.

Participation onsite in Senftenberg (Brandenburg) is free of charge, with the first 30 sign-ups getting EUR 50 travel support and free accommodation.

A kick-off meeting will be held on April 15.
