The Canadian Department of National Defence has announced the full list of prize winners for its Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems (C-UAS) Sandbox 2024, which took place in Suffield, Alberta, in May and June. Innovators were asked to address the question, “how might we detect and/or defeat micro- and mini-UAS with systems that can be integrated into the broader military command and control system?”
15 participating companies from five countries demonstrated advanced prototypes, capable of detecting and defeating micro- and mini-UAS.
Last week, Unmanned Airspace reported that the first prize of CAD1 million was awarded to AIM Defence for its Fractl:1 C-UAS.
Two companies tied for second place. DARIT Technologies’ system provides real-time detection and three-dimensional tracking of rotary drones using multimodal sensing and AI. Features also include advanced fusion of acoustic, vision, lidar, radar and RF sensors. Prandtl Dymanics’ technology uses ultrasonic waves to disrupt UAS Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) and sensors. It offers a ranged, non-point targeted defeat of internal components, defending against weaponised UAS with minimal collateral damage.
