BLU-Space tests underway in Germany as part of U-space project

The BLU-Space consortium is testing systems in Altena and Lüdenscheid, Germany, as part of a workshop this week.

The BLU-Space project is developing a system for the management of uncrewed aerial systems in Germany. Its purpose is to integrate air traffic data with data from various sources and platforms for the first time under real conditions to develop holistic blueprints. BLU-Space is being funded with a total of EUR2.36 million by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport as part of the mFUND innovation initiative.

On March 12, the consortium tested an X25 drone from Morpheus Logistik GmbH in combination with a landing pad from the SIDDA project. The SIDDA project is researching fully automated, intermodal drone networks and their integration into existing logistics networks. For this demonstration, BLU-Space used a microhub station developed by Koerschulte and J.D. Geck GmbH and produced by J.D. Geck.

Today, demonstrations are taking place in Lüdenscheid. In addition to these practical tests, the workshop participants are also further developing test scenarios for BLU-Space’s U-space airspace project in Hamburg with a focus on safe integration and infrastructure requirements.
