Amazon is suspending its commercial drone deliveries in Texas and Arizona after two of its drones crashed in light rain at a testing facility.
The company said it would take the downtime to fix the aircraft’s software.
Bloomberg reports that two Amazon Prime Air MK30 drones crashed during flights at the Oregon airport that the retail giant uses for testing, with one catching fire on the ground. “An Amazon spokesperson said the crashes weren’t the “primary reason” for the pause, but declined to detail other issues designed to be fixed by the software update,” Bloomberg states.
Amazon first announced its new generation MK30 drone in 2022, designed to be smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the MK27-2.
