The UK National Police Air Service (NPAS) has posted a vacancy for a Futures Development Manager to join its beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) uncrewed aircraft trials.
This year NPAS was awarded a position in the BVLOS Integration Sandbox by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and says it is “looking to utilise uncrewed aircraft technology to understand what new opportunities it may bring”. Consequently, NPAS seeks experienced professionals to support the trials which will commence in 2025.
The successful applicant will join the NPAS Futures and Innovation Team to help test and evaluate the trials, ensuring adherence to UK regulations at all times and will work closely with industry partners, government stakeholders and hardware providers. Extensive experience as an uncrewed systems operator is required, preferably with BVLOS operations and testing. Applicants should also have a strong understanding of UK CAA regulations, excellent partner engagement and communication skills, proven expertise in aviation safety standards and the need to expand the regulatory environment for remotely piloted systems.
The vacancy is advertised via West Yorkshire Police with the location listed as Wakefield and a salary of between GBP46,503 and GBP50,088.
The application process will close at 23:55 hours on the 8th December 2024. Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 6th January 2025.
