European standards agency Eurocae and US standards agency RCTA are hosting a global summit to address the opportunities and challenges of the evolving aviation frequency spectrum allocations and how they will drive innovation to meet future technology needs. The Global Aviation Spectrum Summit’s objective is to bring together key stakeholders and decision-makers on spectrum allocation, regulation, and usage for a discussion on how aviation can best prepare for the future global environment as technology moves towards more efficient and effective usage of spectrum. The two-day event, streaming live on December 13-14, 2022, is fully virtual and will address current and new entrants’ needs, systems adaptability, how aviation and other industries can work together to maximize the usage and how EUROCAE and RTCA can be responsive to the industry’s needs to create standards for regulators. Speakers have been invited to participate from EASA, FAA and other regulatory bodies as well as manufacturers and other key stakeholders.
Frequency spectrum is a vital, dynamic, and versatile resource pushing new frontiers in the 21st century. Available spectrum bands are scarce, but new technologies are increasing the benefits available from the connectivity spectrum provides each of us. In aviation and beyond, stakeholder industries need to work together so the uses of spectrum complement each other.
