EU’s Joint Research Centre issues tender for C-UAS living lab and building protection

The European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre (JRC) has issued a tender worth around EUR 4.5 million “to setup a C-UAS living lab for Critical Infrastructure stakeholders and for a better UAS protection of European Commission and European Institution buildings. This tender covers C-UAS solution services for both the Berlaymont and Charlemagne buildings in the European quarter in Brussels.”

According to the “Counter UAS equipment for research and protection of Commission infrastructure” tender document:

The application of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly referred to as “drones”, is increasing rapidly used for services in agriculture, transport, survey, surveillance etc. However, there is potential for misuse of UAS: they can be used to breach privacy, for espionage by using cameras or other sensors, to hijack telecommunication signals and in combination with biological or chemicals agents, explosives or other weapons they could harm persons, disrupt services and damage infrastructure.”

Deadline for the receipt of offers is 15 September 2023.
