With weeks left in office, US President Joe Biden has been doubling down on spending efforts to support Ukraine. As 2024 ended, the Department of Defense announced a USD 1.25 billion Presidential Drawdown Authority package in security assistance for Ukraine, as well as USD 1.22 billion dedicated to additional air defence needs.
The capabilities in this announcement include VAMPIRE counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) and munitions, C-UAS gun trucks and ammunition, mobile C-UAS laser-guided rocket systems and other C-UAS equipment. The assistance also includes numerous other air defence systems such as 21 surveillance radars. A large number of UAS are also covered by the package.
The United States has committed more than USD 66 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since
the beginning of the Biden administration, including approximately USD 65.4 billion since the
beginning of Russia’s invasion on February 24, 2022.
