SMARTSHOOTER develops portable layered C-UAS

SMARTSHOOTER has launched its latest counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) product. SMASH DOME integrates detection and tracking capabilities with kinetic interception. Designed to be lightweight, portable, and adaptable, the system is suitable for both covert and overt tactical operations. It can be deployed on crewed and uncrewed vehicles and platforms, as well as for use on the ground, along borders, and at strategic facilities.

The new system includes the SMASH Hopper remote-controlled weapon station equipped with an assault rifle and a ballistically calculated Fire Control System (FCS). The SMASH Hopper has been developed specifically to counter UAS, independent of communication link or model. Hopper may be integrated with a command and control system to enable automatic UAS target detection and tracking, and provide operators with real-time, calculated ballistic solutions. It can integrate a range of weapons and ammunition to enable kinetic interception of different types of UAS.

SMASH DOME’s architecture incorporates active RF radar and passive optical detection systems to detect, classify, and track UAS targets. With detection ranges spanning up to 1-2 km, the sensors continuously transmit target data to SMARTSHOOTER’s proprietary tracking system.

The system has a person-in-the-loop design. Through the FCS feed, operators maintain visual confirmation of targets, enabling automatic drone tracking and initiation of kinetic response with a command.
