On 7 February 2025 a consortium of 17 PANDRONE AI partners met to officially kick-start the programme, which aims to develop solutions combining autonomous drones and artificial intelligence to meet the growing challenges of securing airport areas – intrusions, malicious acts and their operational consequences.
According to a PANDRONE Linkedin post: “This initiative aims to develop the first automated and modular solution for airport perimeter surveillance and critical infrastructure. Supported by EUR3.7 million in funding from the ANR, the French National Research Agency (France 2030), this ambitious project brings together 17 players from the Bordeaux Métropole and Nouvelle-Aquitaine ecosystem: academic institutions, technology companies and security experts.
“Together, they are developing advanced technological building blocks that will be tested by the CESA Drones Test Center, then integrated by OMNITECH SECURITY into a solution that can be industrialized and marketed by 2028.
Four airports – Aéroport de Bordeaux, EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, Aéroport Nice Côte d’Azur and Aéroports de Lyon – are involved in the venture.
The full list of partners comprises:Université de Bordeaux /Laboratoire Bordelais de Recherche en Informatique (LaBRI), ESTIA Institute of technology, Bordeaux INP, XLIM, optim.aize | Ai, data, science & SIG, AD-WAIBE, ThinkDeep AI, Innov’ATM, Lynxdrone, Delfox, Azur Drones, Running Brains Robotics, Icarus Swarms, Bordeaux Technowest, Aéroport de Bordeaux, CESA Drones.
