Military Africa reports that French company Microwave Characterization Center (MC2) Technologies is supplying its man-portable Nerod RF counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) to the Ivory Coast government.
MC2 describes the Nerod RF C-UAS technology as an “ambidextrous monobloc system incorporating jamming modules, antennas and battery”. It includes an electromagnetic shield to offer protection to operators, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and an emission cone designed to enable effective use without precise targeting of the threat.
Military Africa says that “despite the growing threat posed by drones in Africa, many African militaries are falling short in fielding adequate C-UAS solutions, leaving security forces vulnerable to emerging threats”. The news site adds that the Ivory Coast military also operates the FIELDctrl 3D MIMO radars from Advanced Protection Systems as a counter-drone system.
