Chennai-based start-up Big Bang Boom Solutions Private Limited (BBBS) has secured an order from the Indian Air Force and Army, valued at INR 200 crores, for its Varja Sentinel counter-drone system.
Recently unveiled at the India-Nigeria DefExpo, Varja Sentinel is designed to detect, track, and neutralise drones at range using artificial intelligence and jamming technology. It works by intercepting the communication between the drone and remote control, offering a ‘soft kill’ takedown by jamming as well as ‘hard kill’ using interceptor drones.
The system uses passive RF sensor technology to avoid false alarms and can operate at a range of up to 10km. The company said that it has the potential to neutralise drone swarms.
As part of the contract, BBBS will also provide a training and support package to the Indian Air Force and Army.
