Danish C-UAS company MyDefence joins Hamburg U-space BLU-Space consortium

Danish counter-UAS company MyDefence reports it has joined the Hamburg-based BLU-Space U-Space project, “setting the stage for safe, automated, and efficient drone traffic management in complex urban environments,” said the company in a press release.

“By testing under real-world conditions, the project is creating a blueprint that will serve as a model for drone operations in urban, controlled airspace meeting the highest safety and efficiency standards.”

MyDefence is contributing to the project with its drone tracking sensor technology, helping to ensure the secure and effective integration of unmanned aircraft into controlled airspace.

BLU-Space brings together air traffic data from various sources and platforms, supported by field tests and practical evaluations, refining how airspace coordination will work in practice. The project is also establishing clear operational guidelines for authorities like law enforcement and air traffic control, paving the way for structured U-Space airspace designations across Germany and beyond. Partners include The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS), HHLA Sky Hamburg, Hamburg Port Authority AöR, and Karl Koerschulte GmbH. The consortium is led by Aviation e.V.
