Citadel Defense’s drone threat mitigation technology has been awarded coveted “Fusion Ticket” status during the AFWERX Fusion Xperience event in Las Vegas, which means it will receive U.S. Air Force coaching, funding and facility access to further develop and deploy its solutions.
The San Diego-based firm was one of just 10 teams out of 180 original applicants to earn the accolade. The Citadel proprietary system is effective at identifying and classifying an approaching UAV and selectively applying successive digital countermeasures to induce the UAV to land or return to its home base. It was the only counter-drone solution selected by the judges.
According to the show organisers:
“The annual AFWERX Fusion event will bring together small business, entrepreneurs and academia that aim to provide innovative solutions to existing Air Force focus areas. The AFWERX Fusion event will take place over the course of two days, with each event focusing around an Air Force special interest.”
This year’s event centred on site security. The final teams selected were:
- Zenith Aerospace

- AFRL’s “Flexible Body”
- Citadel Defense Co.
