China has unveiled a new type of counter-drone swarm barrage weapon system, reports the Global Times. The system, which was unveiled in full in Modern Weaponry magazine, works by shooting a wall of projectiles to cover incoming positions of targets. It features 16 tightly designed gun barrels and has been designed to have a fast reload speed.
The magazine and Global Times state that the barrage weapon system has conducted multiple demonstrations against drone swarms, and the results showed that it can shoot down all small-sized drones with a single barrage.
The system can be installed on trucks, tracked or wheeled armoured vehicles, as well as warships.
