Manipur Police has announced on its social media channels that the Assam Rifles have deployed counter-drone systems in the state at fringe areas to repel rogue drones. Violence in the region has recently increased and has included drone and rocket attacks by suspected Kuki insurgents.
Assam Rifles officers responsible for protecting the Indo-Myanmar border are using Gurutvaa Systems’ Dronaam, a counter-drone gun designed to disrupt the GNSS navigation and jamming radio frequencies of rogue drones.
The Central Reserve Police Force has recently tested a counter-drone system and is expected to provide further systems for use in Manipur shortly.
Manipur Police has also started the official procurement process for further counter-drone systems.
