Airbus developing reusable C-UAS drone with 100km range

Airbus has unveiled its LOAD (Low-cost Air Defence) concept aircraft. LOAD is a reusable uncrewed aerial system (UAS) designed to take down rogue drones with air-to-air micro missiles.

Based on the Airbus Do-DT25 target drone, LOAD is launched by catapult, has a range of more than 100km, lands with the use of a parachute system and operates with human-in-the-loop autonomy.

It has been designed to be effective against multiple drones and is expected to be made available to international buyer. Airbus is planning to conduct prototype flights for LOAD this year, with full production by 2027.
