ITG and U-ELCOME demonstrate nine simultaneous drone operations at Spanish port

The ITG Technology Center in Spain has coordinated a drone demonstration at the port of A Coruña this week.

The large-scale demonstration of uncrewed aerial operations was part of the U-ELCOME project, led by EUROCONTROL and SESAR Joint Undertaking, with the participation of 51 European partners.

Nine drone operations were carried out simultaneously at the port, including a long-range urgent logistics flight between A Coruña and Malpica (reducing travel time from 40 to just 15 minutes with zero emissions and no traffic constraints).

The demonstration brought together key partners including Cartogalicia S.L. , Aeromedia U.A.V., S.L., Aerocamaras Especialistas en drónica ámaras, INECO and the Barcelona Drone Center. It was supported by Spanish air navigation services provider ENAIRE and the Alvedro Airport control tower, successfully integrating manned and unmanned traffic through U-space technology.

At the demonstration, ITG also presented the latest developments from its Galaxy Lab, with a view to deploying automated drone operations by 2026.
