Poland seeks local government partners for drone project

The Polish Air Navigation Agency (PANSA) has launched a competition among local governments to recruit entities to cooperate in implementing services under a national plan for uncrewed traffic management. The project will include the construction of infrastructure and the development of technologies that increase the possibilities of providing services using drones.

The project is aimed at a wide audience, opening up new opportunities for both business and local communities. PANSA says there will be new opportunities to use drones in deliveries, inspections, monitoring and other activities that significantly increase the competitiveness of companies. “Local government units and other public entities will be able to use innovative tools supporting everyday administrative tasks, which will translate into an increase in the attractiveness of cities and municipalities, including new jobs and economic development.”

A network of local competence centres (CK) will be established together with technological solutions enabling the performance of many types of uncrewed flights at the same time in one designated part of the airspace (in the area assigned to each CK), including complex operations conducted beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). The CKs will be in 10 locations, nine of which will be selected through a competition addressed to local government.

PANSA invites representatives of local government units to take part in the competition, which will last until July 16, 2025. The project is scheduled to be implemented by June 30, 2026.
