SkeyDrone to monitor airspace over Aalst Carnaval

SkeyDrone will implement its drone detection system to provide airspace monitoring for the safety and security of the upcoming Aalst Carnaval in Belgium, which runs from March 2 until March 4.

Aalst Carnaval attracts approximately 100,000 visitors each year. The event, which dates back to the 15th century, is celebrated over three days preceding Ash Wednesday. It features colourful parades, satirical floats, and the unique tradition of ‘Voil Jeannetten’ where men dress in old women’s clothes. Given its scale and significance, ensuring the safety of spectators and participants is a top priority for local authorities.

The local police force in Aalst has therefore partnered with SkeyDrone and the company will provide real-time insights into drone activity, allowing authorities to respond swiftly to any potential threats.

To further enhance airspace security, a geozone will be active between March 2 and March 5 above the city of Aalst. Each drone flight within this zone must be requested at least two weeks in advance.
