Censys Technologies has announced Sentaero 6, a drone system developed for over-the -horizon beyond visual line of sight operations (OTH BVLOS).
Starting in 2021, Censys Technologies has gone from 3-mile geo-constrained BVLOS approvals using visual observers to nationwide BVLOS approvals where the Sentaero 5 can be flown out to 40 miles in one-way operations without using visual observers. Now, Rob Knochenhauer, Director of Regulatory Affairs at Censys, says the Sentaero range is “in a position of regulatory acceptance where operators can truly capture the value and efficiency of OTH BVLOS operations”.
The Sentaero 6 is designed for 2-hour endurance operations with an expanded payload capacity, integrating native artificial intelligence (AI) and 90-mile command and control range. These features enable longer missions more frequently. In addition, the Sentaero 6 concept of operations will be expanded in the coming months to include swarm (one human, multiple aircraft) and fully remote operations. To boost safety and reliability, Censys says several single-point failure points have been eliminated and an ASTM-certified parachute for urban missions has been included.
Sentaero 6’s onboard computer enables the company’s CensWise AI/machine learning software platform to start processing data into intelligence while airborne.
