The Global Drone Review Report 2024 from Drone Industry Insights (DroneII) says emergency services, medical and security applications by drone are on the rise, overtaking energy and agriculture.
The report draws on data from more than 900 companies worldwide and includes insights on market dynamics, operational trends, and competitive rankings for manufacturers and service providers. Launching the report, DroneII CEO Kay Wackwitz said “drone adoption is going through the roof everywhere in the world.”
In Africa and the Middle East, the number of flight hours for medical delivery drones almost doubled, the report says. Other key trends include a surge in beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations in South America. In Europe meanwhile, over one million visual line of sight flight hours were recorded.
However, the report also considers the obstacles being faced in the industry, including a decline in funding and slow regulatory processes. Despite these issues, the review forecasts a promising long-term outlook.
