JARUS members decide to stick with current structure and work programme

By Philip Butterworth-Hayes

Delegates to the Second JARUS Plenary Meeting, which took place in Vienna between November 18 and November 22, have voted to maintain the organisation in its current structure and carry on with the current work programme, including the development of Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) 3.0.

According to delegate reports, one of the key debates at the meeting was a discussion around the future of the organisation.

The organisation’s structure and work programme has come under increasing pressure from differing timescales of drone and advanced air mobility (AAM) development in the West and the East. The organisation’s work to develop risk assessments for more complex drone missions has also been challenged by the advance of AAM, and the need to develop standards for eVTOL operations.

However, “Option D” – to continue with the work programme and organisation structure in the present form – was chosen by delegates,

“While we bring diverse perspectives and visions to the table, the discussions remain harmonious and highly constructive—a true testament to the positive culture of JARUS,” said the organisation in a Linkedin post.
