China ‘develops laser interceptor with 1km range’

China has unveiled a high-powered laser defence system designed to intercept drones at a range of 1km, Defence Blog reports.

According to the article, the Red Wing Vanguard (or Striker) has a precision laser spot with a diameter of 20mm at 1,000 metres, making it suitable for targeting small and fast-moving drones.

Capable of generating 3 kW of laser power, the system is designed for low collateral damage. It has been designed to be mounted on various platforms, including uncrewed ground vehicles and maritime vessels, to provide mobile counter-drone defence in both urban and battlefield environments.
