Poland’s DroneTower app registers half a million flights in six months

The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) reports that the sum of all reported uncrewed aerial system (UAS) flights using the DroneTower application has already exceeded half a million. DroneTower is the official IT system for reporting the intention to perform drone flights which negates the need for UAS pilots to call air traffic control towers to check-in.

The number of check-ins submitted in the application since its launch in mid-April this year has been systematically growing, reaching a daily record of over 6,000 reports on September 21. In total, the first six months of the application’s operation attracted over 90 thousand new users. The largest number of reports related to the issuance of flight permits were submitted in Warsaw, Poznań and Wrocław – 18,697, 9,628 and 9,609 drone flights, respectively.
