PANSA supports UAS UTM research project for crisis management operations

The Polish Air Navigation Agency (PANSA) supported student scientific groups participating in the Droniada OBLot training and research project on September 27-29, 2024 in Przasnysz. The aim of the project was for students to develop a proposal for the use of uncrewed aerial vehicles for crisis management. The event took place at the airport of the Aviation and Space Research Center (OBLot) of the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology.

Teams from Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Silesian University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Lodz University of Technology and Warsaw University of Technology took part in day and night tests.

“PANSA’s involvement in the project consisted of substantive support for scientific groups in the scope of regulations and procedures concerning the performance of UAV flights. Another aspect referred to the methodology of creating and submitting a mission in order to perform a flight in the area of the temporary DTM launched in the Droniada region, the functionalities of which were tested together with students,” said Seweryn Macholla, Senior Specialist for UAV and UTM. “The most important aspect of the PANSA delegation’s participation included instruction in the use of ADS-B transmitters for students in order to conduct tests aimed at monitoring the UAV position in real time,” added Marek Kustra, Junior Specialist for UTM Development.

The Droniada OBLot training and research project was carried out as part of the public task of the Mikromakro Institute Foundation, co-financed from funds granted by the Minister of Science.
