Japan establishes quality standards for drone services

The Japan UAS Industrial Development Association (JUIDA) reports the creation of new national standards for drone services in a LinkedIn post

“Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has established a JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) that outlines the processes and standards required for drone service providers to ensure a certain level of quality in their services.”

JUIDA says drone-based services have been growing in Japan, leading METI to require businesses to meet the new standards to ensure operational quality and promote the further adoption of services.

“The JIS calls for the development of a service provision system, service delivery, continuous improvement, personnel capability management, incident response during flights, and post-service monitoring,” JUIDA says.
