Volatus receives approval for BVLOS medical deliveries

Volatus Aerospace Inc., formerly Drone Delivery Canada, has received approval from Transport Canada to conduct drone cargo operations beyond the visual line of sight of the pilot (BVLOS) using ground-based technology to detect and avoid conflict with other aircraft on its DroneCare hospital route from Milton to Oakville in the Greater Toronto Area.

The approval enables Volatus to reduce the number of people required to conduct the medical deliveries from eight to three.

Drone Delivery Canada Corporation acquired all of the shares of Volatus Aerospace in August. Prior to this, Drone Delivery Canada announced partial BVLOS operations approval and dangerous goods authorisation for the DroneCare route.
